U.S. Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Bannu and Peshawar

Islamabad - Today's terrorist attacks in Peshawar and Bannu serve as a reminder that extremism still poses a threat to the people of Pakistan. We will continue to support the Government of Pakistan in its struggle against those who commit heinous acts of violence against the civilian population of Pakistan and the officials whose job it is to protect them.
These attacks highlight the vicious and inhuman nature of this enemy whose true target is the democratically elected government of Pakistan and the security of all Pakistanis. These attacks show the lengths extremist elements are willing to go to as they attempt to force their agenda onto a people who only wish to go about their daily lives in peace.
We extend our sympathy to the victims of today's attacks and the families and friends of those who lost their lives in these attacks. We honor those brave Pakistani military, police and security personnel who are fully engaged in combating these extremists.
