Warden Notices
Warden Notice 8/2008
06/06/2008
This warden notice is to remind American citizens of the potential for violence in Islamabad and the surrounding area.
Due to the seizure of three bomb-laden vehicles in Rawalpindi by the Pakistani security services, the government has implemented tighter security around the capital area and has placed all police vehicle check points on high alert.
The Embassy strongly advises all American citizens to limit non-essential movement within the Islamabad and Rawalpindi area in the coming days. Exercise caution in congested areas. If activity at a checkpoint appears suspicious or the checkpoint appears overwhelmed, it is advised to seek another route.
The Embassy reiterates its advice to all Americans to take appropriate individual precautions to ensure their safety and security. These measures include maintaining good situational awareness, avoiding crowds and demonstrations and keeping a low profile. Americans should avoid setting patterns by varying times and routes for all required travel. Americans should ensure that their travel documents and visas are valid at all times.
American citizens are encouraged to register with the nearest Embassy or Consulate.
