Warden Notice 4/2009

February 25, 2009

This Warden Message is to inform all Americans that riots and road closures are occurring throughout urban and rural areas in reaction to the Supreme Court verdict today. More demonstrations and riots may occur at any time throughout Pakistan.  It has been reported that strikes have been called by shopkeepers for tomorrow and by the bar association for the next two days. Tensions may continue throughout this time.

Americans are reminded that demonstrations may quickly turn violent. You are encouraged to avoid areas where large groups are gathered.

The U.S. Embassy would like to remind all Americans to take appropriate individual precautions to ensure their safety at all times.  These measures include maintaining good situational awareness, avoiding crowds and demonstrations and keeping a low profile.
